Todd Blanche’s nomination for Attorney General moves forward

Last week, Acting AG Todd Blanche, who has been implicated in multiple aspects of the Trump administration’s cover-up, met with Republicans on the Judiciary Committee and other congressional power players in efforts to allay concerns ahead of his confirmation hearing next month. Meanwhile, Representatives Robert Garcia and Jamie Raskin released a statement criticizing Blanche’s Bureau of Prisons for failing to provide an adequate explanation for Ghislaine Maxwell’s unusually cushy lockup experience. They said staff from both the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees toured Federal Prison Camp Bryan in Texas, where Epstein’s co-conspirator is currently behind bars, but were met with resistance when seeking answers about Maxwell’s detention.
In other news, Jay Clayton’s stalled nomination for Director of National Intelligence might be back in play. Clayton has his own ties to the Epstein cover-up. He was tapped by Bondi to investigate prominent Democrats’ alleged Epstein connections and stepped in at Apollo Global Management in the midst of their Epstein fallout. And here’s a story to watch: billionaire Leon Black is scheduled to testify before House Oversight this Friday about his extensive history with Epstein.
